Thank you for checking out my site. My name is Joel Michel, and I will be
your guide on your next musky hunt. I have been fishing since I could walk. In my younger days, I would
wake my dad up a 4 am and drag him out of bed to take me fishing. Thank God he took me. I was lucky enough to
catch my first musky at the age of 10. Since then, I've been pleasantly cursed with the musky bug.
I've grown and gained knowledge from spending as much time on the water for any fish I could
chase. From trolling Lake Michigan for salmon and trout, to wading rivers for smallmouth, this has all helped me become
a better musky fisherman and guide.
Some of my accomplishments in the past
few years have included:
- Placing 2nd through 5th
place in the Milwaukee Chapter of Muskies Inc. Mens Division, topping that off with a 1st place finish in 2007.
- 2006 - 4th place finish in the Lake Wabesau WMT (Wisconsin Musky Tour)
- 2006 - 6th place in the Pewaukee Lake WMT tournament.
- 2006 - 8th place in the
WMT championships in Eagle River.
- 2008 - 2nd place in the Okauchee Lake Iron Man Tournament
- 2009 - 1st place in the Okauchee Lake WMT.
I have been published in Muskie magazine and the Wisconsin Outdoor Guide, as well as having articles
written about my guiding in the Racine Journal Times on numerous occasions. If you can't tell by now, fishing
has been my passion for my entire life.
All of this has helped me understand
why I fish, and what it takes to help others have these same experiences. I've had countless "first muskies"
come aboard the boat for both clients and friends as well as many "personal bests" for clients and friends.
When I look back at these trips, I understand that it is the smiles and stories that I hear from them that keep me at it.
The fish may not always cooperate, but more times than not they do, which means you'll have a great story to take
away from your hunt.
Along
with my guiding and tournament fishing, I am also the Youth Program Director for the Milwaukee Chapter of Muskies Inc. and the chairperson for the Ralph Anderson Memorial Veterans Outing. I truly believe in giving back to those who have
protected our fine country, and that we need to also make sure our youth are involved in our outdoors.
I am also a married father of two. I love taking "my
3 girls" out on the water and hope they will soon be waking me up at 4am to take them out fishing. If you have
children, take them out fishing as they are the future of the sport. Children are also welcome on guided trips and will
have the experience of a lifetime, so please don't hesitate to book a trip with them. It will be an experience you
will take with you for a lifetime.
